The number of travelers during 2018 was one of the highest ever, and I was no exception. Google has recently released their Year In Search highlighting some of those most frequented travel destinations this year. If you’re planning on traveling in the future with no set destination in mind, here are the top five travel hot spots of 2018.
The most visited spots this year were dominated by European countries, with Italy landing in the top spot. It’s no surprise that Italy should take the lead this year, as it’s one of the most renowned countries in Europe. Famous for its authentic cultural cuisine, sprawling vineyards, endless wine lists, and beautiful landscapes, Italy has been a hot travel destination for years.
The second most visited destination is another European city, Paris! Also known as The City of Light, Paris attracts millions of visitors to its city every year. Chock full of incredible cuisines, streets filled with history, and a chic atmosphere, Paris is one of the best places to visit in Europe.
Iceland is a destination like no other on this list, as it’s scenery places it on another level for tourists. The county is full of natural attractions including over 30 volcanoes, world-renowned hot springs, and home to the largest glacier in Europe. There are also ice caves to explore in the Winter time and Northern lights displays that take your breath away.
Every good travel list needs a tropical, beach destination! Number four on the list this year went to the Bahamas. The Bahamas are made up of 700 different islands, providing an abundance of natural white sand beaches with clear water, picturesque sunsets, and a never-ending list of activities to do in the area, making it even more attractive for family travels.
Last, but certainly not least, is Ireland. Taking the fifth spot on this list, Ireland is another hot European travel spot. Visitors go to view sprawling green hills that seem to roll forever, historical castles, breathtaking cliffs full of jagged coastline, and one of the greenest places on Earth. It’s also one of the more wallet-friendly destinations on the list, only further proving its accessibility and attractiveness.
